Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is actively seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator (Union & Non-Union) in Scottsdale, AZ.

Position Overview:

Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is searching for a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Administrator to manage the payroll processes and benefits administration for both union and non-union employees. This role requires ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and payroll regulations while serving as a key resource for employee inquiries.

Location: Scottsdale, AZ (north) 100% in-office

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly and/or monthly payroll for union (Steel Workers) and non-union employees with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Apply and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements (wages, overtime, benefits, and union deductions).
  • Review and validate timekeeping data; resolve discrepancies prior to payroll submission.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and union dues.
  • Prepare payroll and benefits documentation for audits, filings, and regulatory reviews.
  • Administer employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement).
  • Manage open enrollment and process benefit changes due to life events, hires, terminations, and retirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and benefits questions.
  • Prepare and validate payroll-related reports and filings, including payroll taxes, ACA, 401(k), W-2s.
  • Partner with HR and Finance on onboarding/offboarding and system accuracy.
  • Act as an advanced user of payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems (Paychex preferred).
  • Coordinate with external vendors and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Stay current on payroll and employment laws, with emphasis on Arizona and California.

Qualifications:

  • Union Payroll a MUST - Preferably Steel workers.
  • Proficiency with PAYCHEX A MUST.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on payroll and benefits administration experience.
  • Experience with both union and non-union payroll required.
  • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and CBAs (experience with CA payroll A MUST).
  • Proficiency in Paychex, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Excel (advanced).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines independently.
  • Industrial environment experience (manufacturing, mining, construction, materials, etc.) preferred.

Work Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Salary Range: $30 - $35 per hour
